The Impacts of Digital Food Environments on Health and Nutrition: Setting Research Priorities

Updated: Oct 22, 2020

To identify research and public health priorities around emerging digital food environments, a virtual meeting on Zoom was held on May 6, 2020 with 36 stakeholders and researchers in collaboration with APCCP. Digital food environments can be described as any digital component of the food environment that influences eating practices and can include digital food and beverage marketing, nutrition communication on social media, and digital food retail. The objectives of this meeting were to:

  1. Identify public health and research priorities for digital food environments,

  2. Foster collaborations to develop research programs and projects on digital food environments,

  3. Build capacity to advance research and translate knowledge about digital food environments.

Following the meeting on May 6th, a working group will be formed to address urgent digital food environment priorities.
